papernoodle

I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea until I came to the USA in the early 90’s. I am living in Columbus, Ohio with my husband and a son. I played with paper since childhood. I discovered the art form called ‘paper sculpture’ in my early 30’s, taught myself how to do it and took a professional path since 2000.

I make mostly paper low-relief sculptures. My sculptures are made of many layers of paper with a depth of usually 1- 2 inches. I make a sketch, then separate, cut, shape, and assemble the paper layers. My inspirations come from living everyday life such as things I saw in my garden, or on the streets, things I read to my son, etc. Some of my paper sculptures are used as 2D paper illustrations which are photographed, then printed, or seen on the screen. Some works are used as 3D objects that can be hung on the wall.

I work on commissions for individuals, companies, and institutions. I also run an online shop selling my art works. Recently, my paper sculpture how-to book called ‘Creative Paper Cutting; 15 paper sculptures to inspire and delight’ was published, and available all around the world through Amazon.com.
